Van Meter High School's NHS team set up an amazing story about a Drinking and Driving accident and touched the hearts of students. Tears were sure to come as the sad tale went on that day.
Nick L was the drunken driver who hit a car with the mother, and two daughters. The mother was instantly killed and the daughter in back lost all feeling in her legs.
The drunk driver got a few scratches but his friend in the back was killed as well. 2 killed and 3 critically injured. Drunk Driver walked away fine.
Ambulance's and firemen, police officers and medical assistants showed how to process is done when an accident such as this occurs.
30 minutes of long waiting and screaming from the "injured" ladies in the car and they finally got to them and had them taken out of the car and rushed to the hospital.
A hearce pulled up and the firemen got the "dead" mother from the driver seat pulled her on a gurnie, put her in a body bag, and took her away to the morg.
Not much to say when you see your friends are being drug out of an accident all blooded and in such agony.
Tears flowed from eyes everywhere as the dead body of Eryn S was drug out of the driver seat her sister who didn't know about this set up was in worse tears then we could have imagined. Watching her sister's "lifeless" body being driven away to her resting place.
What would you do if you saw where and how your family member died? Someone you loved was so tragically taken from you so quickly and all because they made a decision to drink and drive?
Not much to do.
But cry the tears and hope they are in a better place.
Later that day there was a funeral for Shayla the friend of the drunk driver and Eryn the mother in the activity center and it was for all to attend.
As the little gym filled up with friends, students, and family to watch the service of the two casket baring women taken too quickly, even more tears poured from faces of the morning people.
No one could have done a better job of showing the consequences of Drinking and Driving.
But lets all hope if you drink you make better decisions
