Van Meter High School's NHS team set up an amazing story about a Drinking and Driving accident and touched the hearts of students. Tears were sure to come as the sad tale went on that day.
Nick L was the drunken driver who hit a car with the mother, and two daughters. The mother was instantly killed and the daughter in back lost all feeling in her legs.
The drunk driver got a few scratches but his friend in the back was killed as well. 2 killed and 3 critically injured. Drunk Driver walked away fine.
Ambulance's and firemen, police officers and medical assistants showed how to process is done when an accident such as this occurs.
30 minutes of long waiting and screaming from the "injured" ladies in the car and they finally got to them and had them taken out of the car and rushed to the hospital.
A hearce pulled up and the firemen got the "dead" mother from the driver seat pulled her on a gurnie, put her in a body bag, and took her away to the morg.
Not much to say when you see your friends are being drug out of an accident all blooded and in such agony.
Tears flowed from eyes everywhere as the dead body of Eryn S was drug out of the driver seat her sister who didn't know about this set up was in worse tears then we could have imagined. Watching her sister's "lifeless" body being driven away to her resting place.
What would you do if you saw where and how your family member died? Someone you loved was so tragically taken from you so quickly and all because they made a decision to drink and drive?
Not much to do.
But cry the tears and hope they are in a better place.
Later that day there was a funeral for Shayla the friend of the drunk driver and Eryn the mother in the activity center and it was for all to attend.
As the little gym filled up with friends, students, and family to watch the service of the two casket baring women taken too quickly, even more tears poured from faces of the morning people.
No one could have done a better job of showing the consequences of Drinking and Driving.
But lets all hope if you drink you make better decisions

I love to learn (:
Who woulda thunk!?!?!
I just thought about this today, with the changes that we have made here @ van meter we have made education a lot more interesting! I can learn so much more and so much quicker, if I don't understand something in a class I can easily contact the teacher and have them explain to me better or use a different search engine and learn it a way I think might be easier!
It's really unbelievable!
I sit here and I think, there is this amazing world .. and it's right at my finger tips. I have job opportunities, connection opportunities, learning opportunities.
Everything more!
It's amazing once you think about it, people or different educators may not think about how much it would change or how it would help, but it's amazing. It really is.
No one can experience it the same as we can of course. They may get the 2 hour tour of our school and how we function in this small school.
They will never understand how it may have changed many people's views on education, some kids that may not enjoy learning, such as I last year, enjoy learning so much more!
I never thought I would say I love learning.
I have made this huge incline in my education that I love it and I want more and more!
That's all I have to say!
Have a great day!

Set and Noticed.
Woot woot the season has fallen upon us! Yes, it's true its the formal season Juniors and Seniors look toward around spring time! It's PROM!
Dresses are being sold, and Tux's are being rented! Men are asking the women and planning a nice little evening before and after!
Juniors and Seniors wait for this time to come since their sophomore year when they all get together and start to plan the amazing night to remember forever. And that's exactly what their goal is. They want Seniors to remember their last big event before the big DIPLOMA! They want to be telling their kids and their grand kids about the night they will look forward to some night. (;
Well as I have said many manyyyy times. I love taking pictures and I plan on pursuing it as a career. Many people are learning the beauty of it, so it's getting harder to find a good spot in it all. I want to find my place and prove myself!
I don't want to just be stuck as a formal photographer, planning everything on weekends and holidays. I want to also expand my range to business photography, landscape, advertising, senior pictures, as well as holidays, and weddings.
I want that so bad. My life goal is to be set and noticed.
I want people to recommend me to their friends, family, co-workers, and strangers on the street. Anyone who wants to know me, I want to know you.
No doubt about it.
I would love to get to know you, and if you want to take the time you can get to know me and what I do.
BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!
To my main detail why I wrote this blog
was to sayyyyy....
I GET TO GO TAKE PICTURES AT PROM!
I have talked with the prom teachers and planners and I get to go and take pictures for the prom event of 2010!
As long as parents and others are comfortable with it.
It's an amazing opportunity, and I can't wait for it! First HUGE event for me. SO I need lots and lots of practice!
These next few weeks will be crucial to my getting more information and experience. I am setting a personal goal RIGHT NOW!
1) Blog every day, tell you all how its going in the crazy loony life I love.
2) Take a new picture every day! Post it
3) This one is for my readers. I want you to comment and tell me what you think should be done.
*Give me tips and advice. I would love it.
I need it.
Please respond if you have any thoughts or ideas you want to share.
.
Thanks!

Story Time
So many of the people who would even take the time to get to know me, know that I have had a foggy past. I don't mind to share my story to anyone that is interested in listening. I have been told it's an amazing story and that I have been through so much. There are teens, and young children that have gone through exactly what I have. But I am me, and I have my own story I want to get out.
Yes I am still a teenage, only the age of sixteen. But I have been through 30 years of life it feels like. So many of my friends always come to me for advice because I apparently give pretty great advice. Which I love, and the people that I used to work through problems with my life say it's all because I'm an "Old Soul."
"Old Soul," mostly because I am 16, but I act (most of the time) like I'm 30. I have had a lot of life experience in things a "normal" teenager shouldn't have to go through. Why I put the quotation marks over normal is because it's not directed to anyone abnormal, it's to direct a message that I didn't have a normal childhood. With my experience I think I have enough to share with the world or at least the state, that sometimes life is way outside the box. Life is never typical or planned out. It takes it's turns and it controls you. You don't control it. Unless you're God, and are you?
No... no you're not. Just thought I would answer that one for any of the confused people out there.
No offense.. sort of.
Well, that's what I have to say for now. I am sure that I will be updating this a lot more then usual, telling you on how I am coming a long, if I have a block, or I just don't know where to go or what to do. I will try and keep everyone updated as much as possible.
Any help with what to do or how to do it, would be amazing.
Sincerely,
Megan Enos-Skogerson

Whoopsies Daisy!
This weekend just flew on by!! Wish we had more time! But soon we will because its almost SPRING BREAK!!!
Ahhh!!!
Time has just flown on by this year! I don't know where the time goes but it is going somewhere fast! The snow is melting and the weather is getting warmer! It makes me so excited for summer!! Which is also almost here its so scary!!!!
Let me reflect and tell you some things that have been on my mind.
1) I am a religious person and I am becoming closer with God and learning more about his word and it makes me excited and happy every time I read about him and learn more and more about him and what he did. (:
I want to go on this little trip some teens from my youth group go to I think it is in Minnesota, and the only thing I know and that draws me in is that the people who run it tell the students to go out and find a quiet place you can't talk and you can't move really for 6 hours! 6 HOURS!!! You are just supposed to sit there and listen to God and listen to what he has to say to you! Open your mind and all of that! It sounds crazy but that peeks my interest because I feel like God and I have a lot to catch up on and I think we need that alone time that I don't give him.
But I will be trying my best to get more connected with him in this near future! (:
And another thought
2) Is that it's Teen Tech week!! Technology is every where in our school every corner you turn there is technology! And Van Meter knows it well! So we are advertising it to the whole school so that everyone knows that it's not just all Work, Work, Work. We can have fun with technology too!
It doesn't have to be with our computers, they are not the only technology we have access to. We have video games!
(:
So this week we are having people sign up during their study halls to come in a play games and have fun! The hard work does really pay off (;
But I hope this blog was interesting cause I sure thought that I needed to share with you everything that's been going on in this crazy thing I like to call my brain (:
Have a great week readers!!!

Computers, Connections, Students AND FUN!!!!
Hey everyone! I haven't written in a while. Need to change that!
I wanted to let you know that these last couple weeks have been crazy! I actually did go to my Jazz Festival last Saturday we sadly got last, but we played amazing! I think...
But anyways!
I have been trying my hardest with my grades and I have gotten a few of them up just a couple more and I will have it set! (:
I am not practicing everyday instead of Track for Cheerleading once again!! I was a cheerleader for the 2009-2010 squad. I played Varsity Football/ Competition. (: It was a blassttttttt!!!!!
Sure some of it was hard and we cut it close but we were a team and pulled together and had many laughs and memories we still talk about today!
But yes cheer try-outs are coming up! And there are so many girls going out this year!! I am nervous!! I have to work hard and show SPIRIT!! SP -IR-IT!!! Lets gooooo DAWGS!!!
(;
But a couple of thing things that have also happened lately! I have gotten connected with a 6th grade teacher and she asked me for my help with iDVD! I have been e-mailing with her back and forth trying to get her problem solved! Sadly I don't think we have quite figured it out! We have come close but still no success that I know of. But I learned a whole lot about iDVD watching the tutorials! Those help a BUNCH!!
(:
Another thing that happened is that a group I am following on Twitter called the Iowa Journal saw my flickr account!!! They said they loved some of my pictures of the outside! And asked me to add a few photos to their photo stream!!!!
Soooooo EXCITING!!!! I was thrilled to have been asked that!! I of course added photo's right away! (: Any chance for people to get to see the work that I do just for messing around and they say its good then I have this boost of confidence in my photography skills!!
Another thing that has happened this week is that I have talked with my grandma and my mother about ShutterBug it's a magazine and they obviously have a website! :p
But they have this place on their website to where you can open your own little store! And you get to set it up how you want! I talked to my mom and then we talked to my grandma and she said I can get one (:
So I'm oober oober PUMPED! I get to have my own little online store, I upload photos give the address to people then they go online and choose what they want! It gets mailed to them and I get a profit from it!! I love love loveeeeeeee it!!!!
The things we can do online now a days is so crazy!! I am amazed at it all!! I only know these few things that I do know and it's crazy how awesome they help with every day life! And how you get to know some great people without even really knowing them. But most of the time if they are willing as well as you are, they can teach you stuff or you can teach them stuff.
The exchange of information is so incredible! I am so overly excited about all of it!
And some new information is Teen Tech week! It's coming up its the week of School Conferences.
xp
Teen Tech week is a week were teens try and reach out to their classmates and try and tell them how amazing the technology is these days and encourage them to try it out! And have fun with it! Show that it's an amazing tool for education as well as safe fun!
It's crazy amazing!
But I am getting involved in a group that will be making videos and will be spreading the word about technology!
We plan on having little contest! (:
We hope the students will get into it! And try and learn more about not only the fun and safe ways of technology but the educational value (:
I hope you enjoyed this blog!! Sorry it was so long! But I had so much to say! I'm sure I could say a ton more but I will have you a few minutes of your time! I'm glad you read this!
